Jared Leto Just Learned About Coronavirus After Being in the Desert for 12 Days

‘Mind blowing - to say the least’

March 17, 2020

Imagine being away from the world for two weeks, and returning to see the current state of things. The coronavirus outbreak has forced many of us into a self-quarantine, as much of world has been postponed, cancelled, or closed. The news has moved fast, with each day feeling like another big, bold step into uncharted territory. But what if you woke up, and it all hit at once?

Introducing Jared Leto, who has revealed that he has spent the last 12 days at a meditation retreat in the desert, without phones or communication from the outside world. You can imagine the actor and musician’s surprise, when he stepped back into a pandemic.

“Wow. 12 days ago I began a silent meditation in the desert. We were totally isolated. No phone, no communication etc,” he shared on Twitter. “We had no idea what was happening outside the facility.”

“Walked out yesterday into a very different world. One that’s been changed forever. Mind blowing - to say the least. I’m getting messages from friends and family all around the globe and catching up on what’s going on.”

A lot has happened in the past 12 days, with nonessential businesses closing around the country, events and productions being postponed around the world, and the concern over coronavirus becoming a part of every day. To get all of that information in real time has been brutal, but to unkink the hose and get hit with it all at once almost seems unimaginable.

“Hope you and yours are ok. Sending positive energy to all,” Leto concluded. “Stay inside. Stay safe.”
